Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Cross Country Finishes at State

While most of California’s students were enjoying their Thanksgiving Break, the best California runners from across the state gathered at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday November 24th. Your very own Sophomore- Gioia Ternasky was one of those student-athletes. Earning an individual qualifier the previous week she represented Clairemont once again at the CIF Cross Country State Meet.

The Division IV race started at 11:00AM, with no false starts this time. Rain fell the night before causing the course to be a bit sloppy. Regardless, Sophomore- Gioia Ternasky finished the 5k race in 19:50. The last Chieftain runner finished her outstanding season at Fresno, the pinnacle of races. Adding once again to Clairemont High’s legacy of distance runners. The CIF Cross Country State Meet started in 1987, Chieftains have represented the orange and blue at this race for 25 years. Sophomore- Gioia Ternasky eyes a return to the oval, as she is the 11th fastest returner in San Diego County for 800m.
